By The National Weight Control Registry, March 28, 2014
According to their homepage, The National Weight Control Registry “is the largest prospective investigation of long-term successful weight loss maintenance.”
The website includes research finding and success stories of people who have been able to lose a great deal of weight and keep it off. “Registry members have lost an average of 66 lbs and kept it off for 5.5 years.”
Because they have tracked so many people, they’re in a great position to share their perspective on which weight loss strategies tend to work.
This is from their introduction:
“Given the prevailing belief that few individuals succeed at long-term weight loss, the NWCR was developed to identify and investigate the characteristics of individuals who have succeeded at long-term weight loss. The NWCR is tracking over 10,000 individuals who have lost significant amounts of weight and kept it off for long periods of time.”
